Loyalty

**Loyalty**

That thing we fight and strive for because we were led to believe that it exists. That which embodies us to create an example of what we think loyalty should be, only to have it escape us.

Should we have faith in the verbal “I’m here for you” promises, those that once tested, fail while getting lost in the presence of others, and what is happening around us.

Why is it that the image of loyalty is easily diminished by negative naysayers, the color of the collar one wears in the workplace, and by those that are beyond the grasp of its meaning, despite the high regard they have for themselves.

It’s absurd that the degree of loyalty comes with a prerequisite of how much money one makes, the level of education, the tenure of a friendship, and the color of one’s skin.

What if at its best, loyalty is only personal to us in the presence of family and close friends, with even that being questionable.

Could it be that our loyalty should be what others cannot afford, test, or challenge? The one thing that empowers us, gives us strength, and the ability to stand alone channeling the greatest of our successes. If loyalty is such a questionable commodity, maybe it would be best to let it go, to stand strong on one’s own.

Is it that loyalty should be to oneself and thine goals …
